Know what’s waiting.
A tap doesn’t always mean drinking water. Confirm water, power connections, ablutions and arrival times with your campsite before you pack.
Ask before you book
Check the stand size, shade, ground surface and distance to ablutions. Ask whether your tent, caravan or trailer will fit comfortably, and whether your group needs adjoining stands. Confirm accessibility needs directly with the campsite.
Water, power and everyday comforts
Ask which taps supply drinking water and whether supply interruptions occur. Confirm the electrical connection, available power and equipment you may use. Find out about hot showers, washing-up areas, a fridge or ice supply, and the nearest shop. A powered stand still needs a torch.
Plan for the people coming along
Think through children’s bedtime routines, shade during the day and the walk to the bathroom after dark. Confirm pet policies before bringing an animal. At a beach resort, check the swimming arrangements and decide who will supervise children near water.
Make arrival easy
Save your confirmation, gate times and reception number offline. Pack the tent, lights and first evening’s meal where you can reach them quickly. Aim to arrive with enough daylight to find your stand and set up without rushing.
Turn the answers into a list
Use the item notes for details such as “long extension lead” or “bring own braai grid”. Remove equipment the campsite supplies only after confirming it is included in your booking.
